Tip 14: Removing auto-startup programs

11/1/2006; 8:09 PM

The easiest way to disable program from starting up at boot time is to run msconfig from the start->run (windows button+R) prompt. This standard windows application lets you disable programs from starting up by un-ticking them from the startup tab. There might be some programs (especially malicious programs) that don't show up in this list. For a complete list of these programs download the free StartupList from Merijn software. The first places to look for these programs are the Autostart folders and registry run keys.
