Tip 13: Speed testing your internet

I was looking for some sites to test my bandwidth speed with my new internet connection and I found these sites:

Bandwidth speed test - Estimates the time to download a 1MB file
Speakeasy - You can select different servers in the US to test
Bandwidth monitoring tools - Has a good discussion on Linux bandwidth monitoring tools.
DU Meter - A download and upload monitor

Not quite the same thing, but another useful speed-testing tool for web sites is FasterFox. It's an extension, available at the regular places. (Perhaps that would better be saved for another tip.)
