5 diet tips to improve your concentration
Drink water, loads of water - No don't stop reading I'm going to tell you why and how. If you're dehydrated you're more likely to get tired and lose concentration. My trick to drink more water is to keep a big pint glass (nick one from a pub if you don't have one) on the table. If you see it in front of you during the day you're likely to drink it. On your next trip to the toilet, and believe me there will be many, fill it up again.
Don't overeat - Don't you get that siesta feeling after a good filling meal? That's great, but not if you've got things to do after. After a good meal, the body goes into pause mode to digest the food leaving your feel lethargic and sleepy. Eat short regular meals every 2 - 3hrs instead of a huge filling meal.
Relax your eyes - If you work on a computer you can relax your eyes by focusing at a distance. Look out of the window or warm the palms of your hands and cover your eyes with your warm hands.
Take a shot - (my tip ... highly unscientific but works sometimes) If you're feeling hyperactive and cannot concentrate because you've got too much energy, a shot of whisky, wine, beer, martini etc. can help you calm down a bit. Otherwise make use of this energy rush to thrash the little things that have been sitting on your todo list, and you never got around to do them. A run in the park is probably healthier than drinking alcohol, but not always practical especially in the rain. I find that exercise energizes me when I'm feeling tired and exhausted.
Have breakfast and eat a balanced diet - A breakfast helps you avoid hunger bursts when you're half way through your day. I was a coffee only breakfast person until I realised that there's a direct relationship between my breakfast intake, and around mid-day productivity and hunger. I tend to eat less during lunch if I have breakfast.
Extra Tip: Avoid exciting activities just before you start to study.

Mr. Nutrionist,
I have a question.
"Extra Tip: Avoid exciting activities just before you start to study." ...Can you explain to us what you mean by "exciting activies" pls and what are the consequences? Don't you feel calmer after making use of all the stored energy during an exciting activity?
This is a serious question :P

First of all thanks for the comment, the title, and the opportunity to clarify what I said :)
By extra activities I had in mind anything more interesting than studying (pretty much everything especially if you study French). If you are referring to those exciting activities then yes I definitely recommend studying before. I don't know about you, but after those activities the last thing I feel like doing is studying.
Good luck with your studies ;)
P.S. What I really had in mind when I wrote the statement of exciting activities was playing computer games, browsing the internet, reading jokes, youtube etc. You might not define that really exciting unless you're a bit on the nerdy side, or your partner is living miles away :))
