DSLR or not?
It's that time of the year when I get the urge to buy a new gadget. This time (like always) it's a gadget that I need - a new camera. I'm torn again on whether to get an SLR or not. Will I carry an SLR around as much as I would a smaller camera, and would it be worth the investment? Any suggestions?
Update (13-Apr-2008)
After UNcareful consideration and a rush of impulsive judgement, I got the Canon S5 IS hoping that it'll arrive before going to Warsaw next Wednesday. I had a Canon S2 before it mysteriously stopped working and was very happy with it, so I thought I'd give the newer model a try. Getting a new camera was the same price as fixing the broken one. Thanks to R I managed to get a very good price for it on ebay from DigitalRev. I guess the DSLR has to wait. Btw, thanks for your suggestions.

Guess it depends on how much you want to spend. I carry my Sony Alpha 100 around with me everywhere, with a couple of lenses.
Check out the Sony line before you make a final decision. Pretty good features, and less expensive than Canon and Nikon.

I'd go for something small that can even fit comfortably in my trouser's pocket. That is if you want to carry it around as often as you can...

id say if you plan on getting into photography, then definitely get an SLR and keep the small one. you'll still need a small camera. While I do love my 400d, I don't have a small camera at the moment and kindof miss that. Remember that you cannot carry a dslr everywhere.
If you don't plan on getting into photography, then there are quite a few smaller good cameras which deliver exceptional quality.
